APtitute 2021

 

APtitute 2021 is a 2-day session-filled event designed to acclimate incoming 9th grade students to the world of Advanced Placement (AP).  Join AP teachers, district staff and fellow students from around the district in this opportunity to aspire, attain, and achieve in the world of AP.  The institute will include special events for parents as well as special guests including representatives from the CollegeBoard and local universities and colleges.

Institute Highlights

Concurrent Sessions

Designed to provide participants opportunities to explore various topics while leveraging strengths of expert presenters. Concurrent sessions have been designed for both students and parents.

Panel Discussions

Provide opportunities for panelists and audience members to discuss and answer questions around central topics.

Expo Hall

An opportunity to meet representatives from the CollegeBoard, local universities and colleges as well as district AP teachers.

General Questions

Q-  What is the overall purpose of APtitute 2021?

APtitute 2021 is designed to provide incoming 9th grade students the opportunity to acclimate to the world of Advanced Placement and provide a foundation to prepare these students for success within AP courses. Students will have the opportunity to participate in sessions of their choice, covering a  wide-range of topics all designed to help prepare them for success. 


Q- When and where will APtitute 2021 be held?

APtitute 2021- LCS AP Student Summer Institute will be held at Tavares High School on July 27 & July 28.  Tavares HS is located at: 603 N. New Hampshire Ave. Tavares, Fl. 32778

Q- What are the hours of the institute?

The hours for APtitute 2021 are:

Tuesday July 27th -7AM until 3:00PM

Wednesday July 28th-7AM until 2:15PM


Q- Will transportation be provided?

For students wishing to attend APtitute, the district will provide bus transportation to and from the event each day. Specific pick-up and drop-off locations will be made available as the event nears and numbers of participants have been confirmed. Due to school district policy, parents wishing to attend the first day of the institute will need to provide their own transportation. 


Q- Will lunch be provided?

The Department of College & Career Readiness has worked with school culinary programs to provide a light breakfast, a lunch and snack for both days of the institute.

Q- My child will be attending East Ridge High School and their 9th grade orientation is scheduled during day 2 of the event.  Will the school offer another orientation day for 9th graders that attend APtitute 2021?

Yes. East Ridge High School (ERHS) recommends all incoming 9th grade Advanced Placement students register for the Advanced Placement Student Summer Institute.  Due to the conflict with day 2 of the institute and Keys to the Kingdom Freshman Orientation, ERHS has scheduled a special orientation session for APtitute students ONLY.  Information for the special orientation session can be found here: EAST RIDGE 9th GRADE ORIENTATION

Q-Is there a deadline to register for APtitute 2021?
Yes.  We are asking that you complete your registration by Friday June 18.

Q- Will parents be allowed to attend?

Parents are encouraged to attend the first day of the institute and special activities for parents have been included in the agenda including a session led by representatives from the CollegBoard. 

Q- What activities are part of APtitute 2021?

APtitute 2021 has been designed with students and parents in mind.  The institute will resemble an actual professional institute with daily opening and closing sessions, concurrent sessions- led by district AP teachers, a panel discussion led by current AP students, as well as an expo hall with representatives from area universities and colleges as well as district AP teachers and representatives from the CollegeBoard.
