Do You Need a Letter of Recommendation for College?
When you ask your counselor, teacher or another adult for a Letter of Recommendation, you should provide them with a résumé. When requesting a Letter of Recommendation, please allow a minimum of two weeks before you need the letter of recommendation. Don't wait until the last minute, as the counselor or teacher may not have the time to do the recommendation immediately. Your résumé need not be fancy--a bulleted list of items showing your accomplishments while in high school will do. Be sure to include information regarding all extra-curricular activities both in and out of school, including volunteer experiences. Providing a resume allows the person writing the letter of recommendation to make sure you "shine".For more information on how to create a resume for college you may want to complete a Google search.
